Lee Chapel A.M.E. Church in Morgan City served Thanksgiving meals Wednesday to local residents. It all started as a response to fill a need in the community.
A crew with the CBS drama “NCIS: New Orleans” got a little taste of life on an oil rig Wednesday while filming at the “Mr. Charlie” rig museum in Morgan City.
Franklin Health Care Center recently celebrated “Favorite Author—Read a Book Day.” Pictured above is the center’s favorite author, Shelia Lobdell, along with several members of the facility’s Library Club. Connie Durocher, with the Franklin Branch Library, is pictured below, and has been instrumental with supplying the group with books. Lobdell has written many children’s articles. Also pictured are Irene Broussard, Resident Council President; Lorena Viguerie, Library Group Chairperson; Mrs. Alice Drefchenski, known for reading almost a book a day.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
A combination of smoke and fog left visibility in areas between Franklin and Centerville on La. 182 down to just a few feet Tuesday evening. Firefighters and emergency personnel responded but it was believed that the smoke was from a fire set in a field nearby earlier in the day. (Photos by Colin Murphey)
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office released information Wednesday morning in regards to a smoke and fog event that began Tuesday night around 9 p.m.
First Baptist Church in Morgan City on Monday officially began its annual collection of shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
