Patterson blanked Berwick, 4-0, at home Friday in a continuation game from April 16. The game, which Patterson was leading 2-0, was called after the teams had already gone to the dugout for a lightning delay with Berwick batting with no outs in the top of the third inning and a runner on first.
The yell of “Go! Go! Go!” heard late Friday evening could be heard around the city as Hanson Memorial High School Coach Brittany Broussard yelled instructions to Lady Tiger Alyssa Young as the HMS Lady Tigers pulled off a dramatic 1-0 eight-inning victory over the Quachita Christian School Lady Eagles at the HMS Girls Softball Complex.
Dr. Gary Wiltz, CEO of Teche Action Clinic and the chairman of the National Association of Health Care Centers was greeted by President Barack Obama Tuesday in the Rose Garden of the White House. The gathering was held after Obama signed a bill that guarantees community health center funding for the next two years.

Memorial’s eagle symbolizes late pastor’s goal for congregation

Nell Lamury stands by the memorial to her late husband and pastor of Word of Life Family Church the Rev. Richard “Lee” Lamury. The memorial will be dedicated at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, 108 Ryan St., Patterson.

Guest speakers at Berwick Elementary School

Hollyn and Mark Chellette are local creators of BeaZell’s Cajun Seasoning. They were guest speakers for Louisiana Week at Berwick Elementary. The students learned that Mark Chellette would cook with his grandmother every Sunday, where his love for Cajun cooking began. He also labeled his first seasoning with hot pink duct tape.
