De La Salle and Patterson went toe-to-toe in Class 3A regional round playoff action Tuesday, but De La Salle, the No. 10 seed defeated Patterson, the No. 7 seed, 67-64 in overtime in front of a nearly packed house. It’s the third consecutive year Patterson has lost in the second round of the playoffs.

PATTERSON — The city received recognition Tuesday as part of the Bayou Teche Paddle Trail, a designation that allows communities along the trail to develop a “recreational economy” along the waterway, said Connie Castille, executive director of Teche Project.

Central Catholic honor graduates

Central Catholic High School held its annual Senior Academic, Athletic and Scholarship Awards Breakfast May 15 at the Petroleum Club. Jada Pennison, Hailie Baker, Nicholas Case and Kimberly Russo were Central Catholic High School honor graduates. Honor graduates are those students who have taken a minimum of nine classes from the approved list of honor courses and completed those courses with a (non-rounding) 3.7 GPA. GPA’s were determined by averaging all honors courses taken from the approved course list.

Housing authority bonuses topped $200,000

Documents obtained through public record requests reveal four Morgan City Housing Authority employees were paid a total of $208,739 in bonuses over an 18-month period, exceeding the $175,000 total labor cost for 12 months of ordinary maintenance.
