The Berwick Lady Panthers (8-3A) was overpowered by the H.L Bourgeois Lady Braves (7-5A) 31-49 during basketball action Tuesday night in Berwick. Central Catholic Eagles (7-1A) were victors Tuesday night at home against the Teurlings Catholic (4-4A) Rebels 65-47.

Vets complete canoe trip down Mississippi; adventure serves as therapy

Dan Castaneda, standing, and Kevin Wilson completed their canoe trip down the Mississippi River on Saturday and, after a detour down the Atchafalaya, had gumbo and jambalaya at VFW Post 4222 in Morgan City. Also shown is helping dog Samson.

For four months, Dan Castaneda and Kevin Wilson canoed down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico, using the Atchafalaya to knock 100 miles off the trip.

La. 182 in Siracusa closed after 18-wheeler loses load

Students and members of the faculty and staff are celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Holy Cross Elementary School to raise awareness of the negative effects of drugs, alcohol and bullying.
