The bridge over the Franklin Canal on Chatsworth Road is now closed for major renovation by Coastal Bridge Co. of Baton Rouge. It is scheduled to reopen on July 27. Detour routes are posted.

Scout hut may have to move for Patterson park project

Area Boy Scout leaders are upset that plans to renovate Morey Park on Main Street in Patterson appear to include getting rid of a Scout hut they say has stood at the park for 58 years.



The Morgan City 11-year-old All-Stars won the District 3 title Saturday with a 21-16 victory against Thibodaux. While Morgan City had lost the first game in the best-of-three series, they came back with two straight wins to clinch the title and advance to the state tournament in Monroe this coming weekend.
