AMELIA — Hanson’s John Guienze limited Central Catholic’s offense, and the Eagles’ defense committed costly errors late in a 3-1 loss Saturday in a top 5 Class 1A matchup.

A Colorado women’s roller derby team, on a mission to raise funds to stop domestic violence and sexual assault, skated their way into the Tri-City area Sunday as part of a 2,800-mile trip across the country.
All ballot propositions except one passed in Saturday’s election. The St. Mary Parish government’s $6.5 million bond proposal with .92 mills to support its newly created road district failed with 1,012 votes or 46.83 percent, in favor to 1,149 votes, or 53.17 percent against.

The funds were to be used in the fourth annual Farmer’s and Rancher’s Appreciation Banquet held July 18.
