A “SPLASH AND DASH” was recently held at the Chitimacha Recreation Center. It was a combination swim/run event in which the kids swam and ran designated distances according to their age group. After the swim, ribbons were awarded in the following age groups: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-adult.

City’s new transformer to be online in 3 weeks

Workers finished constructing a mini-substation Friday at the Capacitor Bank Substation on Youngs Road in Morgan City. The mini-substation will connect the city’s 112-megawatt transformer to the fiber-optic loop once the loop is completed. At left is the 112-megawatt transformer scheduled to be online in three weeks.

Krewe of Amani

The Krewe of Amani presented King and Queen Amani Jerome Jennings Sr. and Chika Carbins-Johnson during its annual ball held Saturday at the Patterson Area Civic Center. Jennings depicted Wall Street and Carbins-Johnson was Lady Liberty in keeping with the tableau theme, “Amani Takes a Bite Out of the Big Apple.” The krewe will present its Lundi Gras parade at 2 p.m. March 3 in Patterson.

New driver’s license, ID card design introduced
