A Berwick man is in serious condition at a Baton Rouge hospital after an SUV struck his bicycle Thursday evening on La. 70 in Morgan City, police said. Morgan City police received a report at 5:59 p.m. Thursday of a crash involving a cyclist on La. 70 near Lake End Park between the judges’ stand and Carillon Tower.

Bear Festival, Wooden Boat Show weekend brings visitors to Franklin

The Bayou Teche Black Bear Festival and the Bayou Teche Wooden Boat Show brought vendors, music, fun activities and classic wooden watercraft to Franklin last weekend. Bear Festival attendees were treated to a fireworks show Saturday evening, at top. At center, Lewis Graham, of Lafayette, was among the participants at the wooden boat show with the mahogany runabout he built himself. UBS seeks blood donors to overcome summer slump
