Class 1A state champion Central Catholic took two of three individual honors on the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association’s Class 1A All-State baseball team. Central Catholic senior shortstop Samuel Guarisco was named Player of the Year, while the Eagles skipper, Tyler Jensen, is Coach of the Year.

Port focuses on dredging waterways

Officials began a dredging demonstration last week in the Atchafalaya River Bar Channel. Pictured is the Dredge Newport discharging fluid mud back into the channel after dredging.
