Area coaches are excited to see teams perform in the Morgan City High School Football Jamboree Friday at Tiger Stadium. Berwick and Patterson open the 2016 season with new head coaches, while Morgan City returns third-year coach Scott Tregle.

The Central Catholic High School volleyball team returns a wealth of experience in 2016. The team finished its 2015 season with a 19-22 mark, falling in the second round of the Division V postseason to eventual state runner-up Ascension Episcopal. Central Catholic’s volleyball team may just have three seniors and three juniors on its squad this season, but don’t be fooled by the squad’s youth in grade level. They have experience.

One person was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident on US 90 near the Garden City exit. Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 1:20 p.m. An SUV and small car were involved. Two victims were transported to Lafayette by Acadian Air Med, and one person refused treatment.

Morgan City police designate ‘Safe Exchange Zone’

Anyone looking for a safe place to pick up or deliver items from online transactions or to make child custody exchanges now has a site officially designated for those purposes in Morgan City.

B.I. Moody inducted into Hall of Fame
