Central Catholic opened its season with a sweep of Highland Baptist, 25-22, 25-12, 25-13. As a team, Central Catholic had 38 kills and hit for a 0.369 clip.

Gov. John Bel Edwards told a group of about 1,000 senior citizens Monday that he’s committed to continuing to fund councils on aging, transportation services and other resources seniors need.

Patterson scored with just seconds remaining on the clock to upend Morgan City in the nightcap of the Morgan City Jamboree Friday at Tiger Stadium. Trailing 7-0 with less than 2 minutes left in the game’s 15-minute quarter, Patterson running back Dajon Richard had a long run to the Morgan City 6-yard line.

River to crest Friday; uncertain what rest of spring may hold

The Atchafalaya River is projected to crest at 7.2 feet Friday morning in Morgan City, but it’s unclear yet whether the area may see another similar crest later in the spring.

ATV reported stolen in the Patterson area

Pictured is the 2008 Polaris Razor ATV that was stolen between March 1 and March 5 from the Patterson area.
