The LSU Track & Field teams will open NCAA East Preliminary Round action in Jacksonville, Florida, today at Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida. The No. 3-ranked Tigers and No. 8-ranked Lady Tigers will compete with their goal of earning their spot in the national semifinals.
The Red Ribbon Committee recently held its traditional “Passing the Ribbon” presentation. In keeping with tradition previous chair Blaise Smith, left, “passed the ribbon” to the incoming chair Scott Berry. In center is Gidget Everitt, Safe and Drug-Free Schools at-risk interventionist.

Essay winners at Hattie Watts Elementary

Hattie Watts Elementary third- and fourth-graders participated in a Drug-Free Essay Contest during Drug Free Week. There were first, second and third place winners in each class. First place winners were Emily Ackman, Kaylee Bourgeois, Alyssa Henry, Camrin Marin, Kennedy Escort, Z’akiyah Merritt, K’vosha Diggs, Kwantae Collette and Destin Smith.

Employees are Phylis Cook, Nicole Gaspard, Maria Bolano, Wendy Duhon, Julie Landry and Monica Wiggins. Kneeling, from left, are Charlene Hall and Brandi Landry. M C Bank employees held some Pink Days where employees were invited to sport the Morgan City High’s Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts. They also had a special day designated as “Real Men Wear Pink” where they challenged men to wear pink to show their support. Proceeds from the Morgan City High Pink Volleyball Game will be used locally to assist women with much needed mammograms and diagnostic readings.

Central Catholic High School Toys for Tots program

Central Catholic High School students recently participated in the Marine Corps League’s Toys for Tots program. Members of the National Junior Honor Society encouraged students to bring in a new toy to provide gifts for the children eligible.
