Berwick and Morgan City are looking for consistency in Friday’s season opener at Tiger Stadium in Morgan City. Berwick opened the Morgan City Jamboree with a 22-15 win against Covenant Christian Academy last week.

UPDATED: Woman in critical yet stable condition after Bayou Vista shooting; detectives looking for shooter

As of about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were responding to a shooting on Saturn Road in Bayou Vista. Franklin summer programs receive heavy participation

Franklin’s mayor and council acknowledged Franklin Senior High School’s Kenneth Lockett, who was awarded the Ford Neighborhood Award for Best High School Coach of the Year for 2015, a national award. Mayor Raymond Harris, right, presented the key to the city to Lockett, and the council passed a resolution acknowledging his contributions to the community.

Franklin’s summer arts and dance program and summer recreation programs exceeded staff expectations this year.
