A 22-year-old Morgan City man wanted in connection with the rape and beating of a 16-year-old girl on April 15 has been apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Iberia Parish, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office news release.

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles will be looking to continue their postseason run when they host No. 15 St. Mary today in Class 1A regional round action at 5 p.m. The Lady Eagles (25-3) advanced to the second round after recording a 12-2 run-rule victory against Oberlin in six innings Monday in bi-district action.

Franklin branch library to host Orphan Train program

The Orphan Train era saw the largest mass movement of children in American history. During a 75-year period, 1854-1929, more than 250,000 children were transported by rail across America from New York City. “Riders on the Orphan Train,” will be presented Monday at the Franklin branch of the St. Mary Parish Library beginning at 6 p.m.
