Patterson gets a break after two straight weeks against Class 5A teams, but Catholic High-New Iberia won’t be a cakewalk Friday in New Iberia. Catholic High (2-0) is currently ranked fourth in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 2A poll with 95 points and one first-place vote.
Hanson Memorial, West St. Mary and Franklin High will all be on the road this weekend in Week 3 of the high school grid season. Hanson (2-0) will travel to face the Berwick Panthers (1-1) on Friday at Geisler Stadium at 7 p.m.

Acadiana Mega Raffle top winners announced

The Community Foundation named the top seven grand prize winners of the inaugural Acadiana Mega Raffle. The winners were announced at a celebration event held at Coyote Blues Tuesday night and are: Dane Hutchinson, of Lafayette, $500,000; Shannon Richard, of Lafayette, $100,000; Melanie Broussard, of Abbeville, $50,000; Colleen Christ, of Basile, Triton 18XS Bass Boat; Mary Landry, of New Iberia, Key West 186 Bay Reef Boat; Kelly Vaccarella, of Lafayette, brand new vehicle of choice; and Grover Dunphy, of Lafayette, brand new vehicle of choice.
