Franklin Hornets turn back WSM Wolfpack, 54-47
Jarion Brown, Brennan Robinson and Jamal Johnson all scored in double figures, leading the Franklin Hornets to a 52-47 victory over the West St. Mary Wolfpack Tuesday at the FSHS Gymnasium.
Franklin built up an early lead 7-5 lead at the end of the first period. Franklin went on a 19-7 second quarter spurt to gain a 26-12 halftime cushion. In the third quarter, the Wolfpack whittled the Hornets’ lead to 36-29 thanks to a 17-10 run. West St. Mary outpointed the Hornets by a 19-16 margin in the final period but it was too late as the Hornets hung on for the 52-47 win.
Brown fired in 12 points on three deuces, one trey and 3 of 8 free throws. Robinson pumped in 12 points on five field goals and 2 of 8 free throws. Johnson bagged one trey, three deuces and 2 of 4 free throws.
Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets were: Derrick Kelly, 7; Cedric Paul, 4; Tarence Clark, 4 and Brandon McFarlane, 2.
Glenn Marsh led the Wolfpack in scoring with 17 points on five deuces, one trey and 4 of 6 free throws.
Other top scorers for the Wolfpack included: Theron Jack, 9; Jeremiah White, 7; Chris Jones, 4; Kyler Jackson, 3; R. Allen, 2 and Davion Anderon, 1.
Franklin will open District 9-3A on the road on Friday at the Abbeville Wildcats.
West St. Mary is scheduled to host Beau Chene on Thursday.
