Franklin Hornets prevail over West St. Mary Wolfpack, 11-10
Timely hitting and clutch pitching helped the Franklin Hornets notch an 11-10 win over the West St. Mary Wolfpack Wednesday at the FSHS Baseball Field.
Franklin struck for seven runs over the first two frames, building a 7-1 advantage. FSHS collected three move runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning before adding one insurance run in the fifth frame. West St. Mary scored seven of its 10 runs over the final two innings as the FSHS Hornets held on for the 11-10 victory.
Franklin pitcher Duncan McLeod was the winning pitcher after working seven complete innings. McLeod, who was named the Impact Player of the Game, struck out three batters while walking none over seven innings.
Franklin’s Damonte Mickles turned in the “Pete Rose Charlie Hustle” Play of the Game with his play behind home plate.

Jerald Hawkins was the top hitter for the Wolfpack with a 2 for 4 effort while John Hill also hit safely in the contest.
Franklin will return to action on Saturday in the Northside Tournament before hosting Abbeville next Tuesday in the opening round of District 9-3A action.
West St. Mary will return to action next Tuesday in league play.
