Franklin Golden Age Club to meet Jan. 17
The Franklin Golden Age Club held its monthly meeting on December 20 at the Franklin Recreation Center with thirty-two members in attendance.
Interim Club President Floyd LeBlanc opened the meeting. Linda Darce said the prayer and Howard Winston led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes and treasury report from the last meeting were dispensed.
Installation of officers will be held at the January meeting with Interim Club President Floyd LeBlanc taking over the reign as club president. Vice-president Linda Darce and Secretary EmmaDel Broussard will remain in office as neither was opposed. Virgie Price will serve as club treasurer.
Secret Pals were revealed at the meeting and gifts exchanged among those participating. Drawings will be held at the January meeting for those wishing to participate in Secret Pals for the new year. Jeanette Clements is chairperson for Secret Pals.
The Christmas Party for clients of Center of Hope was held December 12. The club adopted the Center of Hope years ago. Doris Giroir, chairperson, wishes to thank club members that donated money throughout the year toward making the party a reality. Thanks also to those who donated their time or refreshments for the party. Assisting Doris were Myrtle Boudreaux, Audrey Charpentier, Jeanette Clements, Anna Hebert and Floyd LeBlanc. Howard Winston, Tom Randazzo and Sam Yoshida furnished the music.
The Lafayette Golden Age Club Coronation Ball was held December 10 at the UL Student Building in Lafayette with a few members from the club attending.
A membership drive is continuing and dues for current members are being collected for 2012.
Visitors to the meeting were Sam and Melinda Yoshida.
Celebrating birthdays in December are Ella Bertrand, Audrey Depass, Anna Hebert, Floyd LeBlanc, Shirley Spangler and Eloise Tutela.
The next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, January 17 and will include a covered dish meal.
