Franklin Golden Age Club holds monthly meeting
The monthly meeting of the Franklin Golden Age Club was held Tuesday, February 28 at the Franklin Recreation Center with twenty-nine members in attendance. Club President Floyd LeBlanc opened the meeting. Linda Darce said the prayer and Howard Winston led the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes and treasury report from the January meeting were dispensed.
It was announced the Pelican State Golden Age Convention, scheduled to be held in April, would not be held this year.
Discussion was held on possible day trips the club, as a group, would like to take. A bus trip to the Paragon Casino in Marksville is under consideration with vacant seats sold to the general public. More information will be given at a later date.
Club members welcomed Barbara Charpentier, Mary Ida Simoneaux, Sybil H. Lovell, Tom Randazzo and Lenis Clement to the club. A membership drive is continuing and dues for current members are being collected for 2012.
Club President Floyd LeBlanc asked for workers to help with the club’s cake bingo to be held in April. Donations are also being accepted for the refreshments. The cake bingo will be open to the public. More information will be given at the March meeting.
Celebrating birthdays in February are Clifford Broussard, Elise Broussard, EmmaDel Broussard, Lenis Clement, Gloria Garlotte and Micki Young.
The next monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, March 20 and will include a covered dish meal.
