Franklin All-Stars down Morgan City

MORGAN CITY _ Pitcher Josh Frost hurled another terrific game, leading the Franklin All-Stars to a 13-1 victory over the Morgan City All-Stars here Monday in the District 3 Dixie Youth 12 Year Old Tournament at Complex Park.

Franklin plays for the district championship tonight beginning at 6 against St. Mary Central, who eliminated Thibodaux in Monday’s opener. Franklin can win the district title outright with a victory over St. Mary Central in tonight’s opener.

In Monday’s semifinal contest, Franklin pitcher Josh Frost and Morgan City hurler Logan Tingle hooked up in an old fashion pitcher’s duel until the top half of the third frame. Frost earned his second straight mound victory after working four frames, allowing just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and five walks.

Frost held the Morgan City batters at bay until the Franklin hitters came to life in the top half of the third frame. Both Frost and Tingle pitched out of bases loaded jams in the first frame. With one out and the bases juiced following a single by Adam Dupuis sandwiched in between free passes to McKie Richard and Cooper LeBlanc, Franklin fireballer Frost fanned a pair of hitters, ending the threat in grand style.

Franklin hitters woke up in the top half of the third frame, chasing Tingle while manufacturing a 5-0 lead.

Noah Judice, Devin Arton, Skyler Fitch, Kade Daigle and Jack Vaccarella all lined singles to fuel Franklin’s rally in the third inning.

Franklin added eight more runs in the top half of the fourth stanza on the way to the 13-1 victory.

Jack Vaccarella’s 3-run blast highlighted Franklin’s 8-run outburst in the fourth frame. Brent Ina started the rally with a single before Kade Daigle, Devin Arton and Noah Judice all stroked doubles prior to Vaccarella making his presence known with the nifty 3-run round-tripper.

Franklin goes after the District 3 Championship tonight against St. Mary Central in Game 1 at 6. Franklin heads into tonight’s contest with a 3-0 overall record with a pair of victories over Morgan City along with a win over Thibodaux.
