Former strip club employee pleads guilty
LAFAYETTE (AP) — One of 10 defendants in the drug and prostitution case involving a Carencro strip club has pleaded guilty.
Another former Desperado’s Gentlemen’s Cabaret employee indicated in court papers that she will change her plea.
Elias White pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of conspiracy to maintain a drug-involved premises.
U.S. District Judge Elizabeth Foote told White that he faces up to 20 years in prison. Foote set sentencing for Jan. 10.
Another defendant, Crystal Sampy, is scheduled to change her plea of not guilty on Aug. 15, according to court papers filed Thursday.
White, Sampy and eight others, including the Desperado’s owner and his wife, have pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from a federal investigation at the now-closed strip club in Carencro.
