Fla. man held on warrants for possession of methamphetamine
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Debra C. Black, 55, of South Meyers Drive in Lafayette, was arrested at 3:37 p.m. Friday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Black was observed taking some items and switching price tags on other items to reflect a cheaper price, the report stated. Following an investigation, Black was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on a $1,000 bail.
—Ivan Otoniel Campos, 29, of Benton, Texas, was arrested at 7:43 a.m. Sunday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of theft at the Amelia Belle Casino. Upon arrival the deputy learned from casino security that Campos was captured on surveillance video taking an employee’s mobile phone. Following an investigation, Campos was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on a $1,000 bail.
—Riley Robert Hall, 42, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:36 p.m. Sunday for theft and simple battery. A deputy en route to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista was advised by dispatch that the subject had fled and was hiding in a dumpster behind a nearby store. Upon arrival, the deputy located the subject, identified as Hall. Hall was taken back to the store where security personnel identified him as the subject who attempted to take a desktop computer from the store in a shopping basket, the report stated. As Hall was being stopped by a security employee, he left the computer, pushed the employee, and fled, the report stated. Hall was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Patterson police arrested the following:
—Cotina Walton, 30, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:42 p.m. Monday for simple battery domestic. Walton was transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
—Kevin Batiste, 35, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Monday for simple battery domestic. Batiste was transferred to Morgan City police.
—Joshua Francois, 21, of Apple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery domestic and simple criminal damage to property. Francois was released on bail.
—Anthony Brooks, 32, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple battery domestic violence. Brooks was released on bail.
—Jonathan Parker, 30, of Oneal Chube Street in Franklin, was arrested on warrants for Iberia Parish and St. Mary Parish. Parker was transferred to Jeanerette police.
—Cedrick Raby, 20, of Skipper Street in Lake Charles, was arrested at 3 a.m. Friday, for underage drinking. Raby was released on bail.
—Zachary England, 21, of 13th Street in Lake Charles, was arrested at 2:57 a.m. Friday for no driver’s license. England paid the fine and was released.
—Clint Adams, 29, of Verot School Road in Lafayette, was arrested at 9:56 a.m. Saturday for suspended driver’s license and speeding. Adams paid the fine and was released.
—Terrance Johnson, 22, of Myrtle Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:33 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace fighting. Johnson paid the fine and was released.
—Dennis Ventress, 70, of Myrtle Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:33 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace fighting. Ventress was released on recognizance.
—Wamya Francis, 18, of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Saturday for attempted theft of goods. Francis is still being held.
—Jeremy Hall, 22, of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Saturday for attempted theft of goods. Hall is still being held.
—Julio Cordova, 34, of Jennifer Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 11:31 a.m. Saturday for no insurance, no driver’s license and expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. Cordova paid the fine and was released.
—Pedro Jimenez-Lara, 32, of Sebby Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Saturday for no driver’s license. He paid the fine and was released.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Johnathan Franklin, 25, of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment and resisting an officer. He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time.
—Charles Daniel, 54, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Saturday for appearing in public intoxicated. He was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $292.
—Larry Pontiff, 40, of Brusle Guillot Road in Thibodeaux, was arrested at 11:37 p.m. Saturday, for driving under suspension and driving with an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. Pontiff was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $538.
—Kimberly Harris, 40, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:48 a.m. Sunday for theft of goods ($11.64).
Police were called to Family Dollar for a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers were advised that Harris was observed placing items into her purse without paying for them. She was stopped as she was exiting the store.
The items included hand lotion, utility knife, press-on nails and glue. She was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $492.
—Barry A. Johnson, 50, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:34 p.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace.
Officers responded to a complaint of loud music on Wren Street. Officers spoke with Johnson and advised him to turn his music down. Officers were later called back to the address for loud music. Johnson was taken to jail and held. Johnson was released on $292 bail.
—Chelsey Dawn Gros, 21, of La. 70 in Pierre Part, was arrested Friday at 4:40 a.m. for disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers responded to a call of a disturbance at a motel. Officers encountered Gros, who was intoxicated. She was arguing with a male subject. Gros would not comply with officers commands to leave the motel. She was taken to jail and held. Gros was released on a $292 bail.
—Rodrigo Deltoro Perez, 41, of Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested at 2:44 a.m. Friday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and on a fugitive hold for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
An officer was in Circle K Store in line to check out behind Perez, who was also checking out. The officer noticed that Perez was highly intoxicated as he was having trouble standing, and when Perez checked out, he had trouble walking. The officer approached Perez outside the store, and found a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Perez.
The officer was told that Perez was going to a local hotel and called a taxi for Perez, which Perez left the area in. The officer continued on patrol. A short time later, the officer returned to the area of Circle K and observed Perez exit a taxi and get into a silver 2000 Nissan Xterra with a Florida license plate.
The officer entered the parking lot of Circle K, and then observed Perez drive the vehicle onto Grizzaffi Street. The officer stopped the vehicle. Perez was given a field sobriety test, which he did poorly on, the report stated, and he was taken to the police station for an intoxilyzer test, which he failed.
He was taken to jail and after checking for warrants it was determined that he was wanted by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for possession of methamphetamine. Perez was positively identified by tattoos on his body. Bail is set at $30,000. Police are holding Perez for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
—Branshekia S. Harris, 25, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Patterson, was arrested at midnight Friday on a probation warrant and a warrant for failure to appear.
While patrolling the area of Hilda Street, officers conducted a traffic stop for failure to signal a turn. The driver gave officers the name of her passenger. It was later determined that the driver was in fact Harris, and that outstanding warrants were held for her arrest by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $41,000.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Glenn Falgout, 72, of Patton Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:51 p.m. Sunday for driving under suspension. He was released on $1,000 bail.
