Five more grab finals spots for La. Open $1 Million Hole-in-One

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – Darrin Freeman of New Iberia had the top shot Saturday and led five more qualifiers for the Cypress Bayou Casino & Hotel $1 Million Hole-In-One Shootout that kicks off Chitimacha Louisiana Open activities.

Freeman put his tee shot eight feet and four inches from the pin on the 135-yard third hole at Les Vieux Chenes Golf Club on Saturday, leading five qualifiers at that course on the fourth of nine days of qualifying. Saturday's other qualifiers at Les Vieux Chenes were Mark Henry of Lafayette (8' 9"), Don Andrepont of Lafayette (9' 6"), Brian Leeth of Lafayette (9' 7") and Ed Hannie of Youngsville (11')

That fivesome advances to the finals on Sunday, March 17, at Le Triomphe’s 8th hole, where all qualifiers will take aim at a $1 million prize for a hole-in-one. A total of 20 qualifiers have now earned finals berths.

Qualifying continues Sunday on the eighth hole at The Wetlands to wrap up the second weekend of qualifying events. Future qualifying events are scheduled next Friday-Saturday, March 15-16, at Le Triomphe, the host course for the Louisiana Open.

Two days of qualifying will also be staged on the PGA Tour Simulator at The Golf Connection store on Pinhook Road on Wednesday-Thursday, March 13-14, from 4-6 p.m. daily. The five closest shots to the simulated hole during the week will also earn spots in the finals.

Players may also secure an automatic spot in the finals with a $100 contribution, which may be made at the qualifying locations or sent directly to the Chitimacha Louisiana Open, 124 Heymann Blvd. Suite 105, Lafayette, LA 70503.

This year’s Hole-In-One Shootout is being conducted by and benefits the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), an all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue and adoption group dedicated to improving the lives and welfare of homeless dogs. More information on ARF is available online at
