First movie in the park is Thursday
The first movie in the Movies in the Park Summer Movie Series will be “The Karate Kid,” starring Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson.
Broussard-Harris Park will open at 7:15 p.m. Thursday and the movie will begin at dusk.
Moviegoers are allowed to bring blankets and chairs to sit on; however, no ice chests or alcohol will be allowed in the park. Additionally, the only animals allowed in the park are service animals for the disabled.
Parents are encouraged to come to the movie, watch with their children and spend some quality family time. Mayor Harris said, “We’re hoping that parents will bring their children and enjoy a family movie night together.”
There will be vendors selling beverages and popcorn. Attendees are encouraged to spray themselves for mosquitoes.
