Final 10 qualify, finals in Cypress Bayou Casino & Hotel La. Open $1 Million Hole-in-One Sunday
BROUSSARD, La. – The final 10 qualifying spots were locked down Saturday, and approximately 55 players will be hoping for a miracle shot Sunday in the finals of the Cypress Bayou Casino & Hotel $1 Million Hole-In-One Shootout that kicks off Chitimacha Louisiana Open activities.
Five players qualified on the eighth hole at Le Triomphe Saturday during play in the Web.com Tour Challenge, while five more qualified at a special target green set up in the front field of Le Triomphe. Those 10 will join previous qualifiers from courses across Acadiana for Sunday's finals, scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Le Triomphe's 8th hole, where all participants will take aim at a $1 million prize for a hole-in-one.
The $1 million prize has never been awarded in the Louisiana Open's 22-year history, but even if nobody holes out during Sunday's finals the closest shot to the pin will win a $1,000 first prize. Prizes will also be presented by the Open for second and third place. The finals are open to the public at no charge.
The qualifiers in the Le Triomphe front field were led by Don Cross of Lafayette, who put his shot two feet and nine inches from the pin on the special 123-yard target hole. Saturday's other qualifiers there were Wayne Delcambre of Broussard (6' 6"), Brady Como of Broussard (7' 1"), Ben Como of Broussard (11' 2") and Ryan Desormeaux of Broussard (12' 4").
Qualifiers on the 8th hole Saturday during tournament play were paced by Peyton Reddick, who put his shot three feet and six inches on the 129-yard hole. The other qualifiers on the 8th hole were Marcus Bougard (4' 0"), Johnathan Andry Sr. (4' 1"), James Walker (4' 1") and Eddie Martien (4' 11").
Players may still secure an automatic spot in the finals with a $100 contribution, which may be made at the finals site prior to the start of competition..
This year’s Hole-In-One Shootout is being conducted by and benefits the Animal Rescue Foundation of Louisiana (ARF-LA), an all-volunteer non-profit animal rescue and adoption group dedicated to improving the lives and welfare of homeless dogs.
