Fighting, criminal damage to property among man’s charges in St. Mary Parish

A Bayou Vista man was arrested Friday by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on several warrants including criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace by fighting.

Troy Landry, 35, of Arcemont Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested Friday on warrants for failure to appear on charges of criminal neglect of family, possession of cocaine, criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace by fighting.

At about 3:10 p.m., St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division detectives located Landry on Pluto Street in Bayou Vista. Landry was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

Elizabeth Reuben Lewis, 20, of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:58 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for aggravated battery. A St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputy conducting a traffic stop on La. 182 in Amelia made contact with a passenger of the vehicle identified as Lewis. During the investigation, the deputy learned of the warrant for her arrest. She was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on $2,500 bail.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:

—Erica Long Smith Rocha, 49, of Poncio Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:55 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Rocha on the warrant. Rocha was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.

—Juvenile male, 12, was arrested Saturday for illegal use of a weapon in Ricohoc. A deputy responded to a complaint of a gun being fired. During the investigation the deputy learned that the juvenile male had fired a weapon. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

—Terence Singleton, 44, of Clothilde Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of no headlights and no driver’s license. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Singleton. During the investigation, the deputy learned of the warrant for his arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $308.50 bail.

—Bethany Nicole Mecom, 20, of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:16 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of synthetic cannabinoids. A deputy located Mecom at her residence on the warrant. Mecom was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on $8,000 bail.

—Alaina Marie Boudreaux, 27, of Uranus Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:08 a.m. Monday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Boudreaux on the warrant. Boudreaux was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.

—Patti Sue Uriegas, 20, of Tut Street in Pierre Part, was arrested at 1:26 p.m. Monday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Uriegas was observed placing items in a backpack. Uriegas then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. Following an investigation, Uriegas was taken to the parish jail and held. Her bail is set at $1,000.

—Jeremie A. Hanks, of U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:33 a.m. today on two warrants from Morgan City police for failure to appear on the charges of disturbing the peace. A deputy responding to a complaint made contact with Hanks and, during the investigation, learned of the warrant for his arrest. He was taken to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. His bail is set at $450.

—Rickie Sanchez, 49, of Lee Drive in Pierre Part, was arrested Friday on a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

At about 3:04 p.m., St Mary Parish Narcotics Division detectives located Sanchez on Robin Street in Morgan City. Sanchez was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $1,500 bail.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:

—John Ashmore, 42, of New Iberia, was arrested at 9:38 a.m. Monday for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and disturbing the peace by intoxication. He is still being held with no bail set.

—Dalton Callender, 17, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and no headlights. He was released on $3,750 bail.

Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:

—Dustin Ferguson, 20, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Friday on a warrant for hit and run driving and careless operation. Ferguson was taken to jail and released after posting a bail of $369.

—Palmer Cox IV, 48 of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:09 p.m. Saturday for possession of marijuana (second offense), driving under suspension, no brake lights, and possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

An officer was in the area of Fifth and Everett streets when he observed a vehicle being operated without brakes lights. The driver was stopped at Federal Avenue and Everett Street.

Upon making contact with the driver, the officer noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. Officer asked him to produce a driver’s license, and he could not. A driver’s license check indicated that his license was suspended. Cox submitted to a pat down search and several pills were discovered in his sock, the report stated. The pills were identified as Busiprone.

Cox was arrested, and as officers were placing the handcuffs on him, they observed a small baggie of suspected marijuana in his hand. He was arrested, booked and released after posting a $12,250 bail.

—Dezzie Booty, 33, of Maple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:34 p.m. Monday for domestic abuse battery. He was taken to jail and held. No bail is set at this time.
