Festival features 2-day gospel concert
The Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival invites the public to take part in the two-day Gospel Concert at M.D. Shannon Elementary’s gym in Morgan City on Saturday and Sunday.
Many performers will be from local choirs, joining others from around the state as well as neighboring states in celebrating Christian heritage.
Opening the concert at noon on Saturday, Jacqueline Brown will have music and testimony until the first performance at 1 p.m. Performances will continue until 10 p.m.
Beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, performers will include choirs and Gospel groups from Baton Rouge and New Orleans, as well as church choirs and Christian dancers from the local area. The concert will continue until its close at 10 p.m.
Performers scheduled to appear, but not pictured, include Men of Zion Male Chorus; Betty Fraley, Don Adams and group; and Sensational Wright Brothers.
M.D. Shannon Elementary is located on Brashear Avenue in Morgan City near the La. 182 bridge.
