Farmers’ Market to return
The City of Franklin will continue to host a Farmers’ Market at 300 Willow St.
The Farmers’ Market will be open every month on the first and third Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on the second and fourth Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
To be a part of the Farmers’ Market, participants can go to Franklin City Hall on Iberia Street to complete an application and to get the rules and regulations that must be followed as a member of the market. Individuals who have completed applications and have been a part of the Farmers’ Market in the past must complete a new application in order to continue their participation in the Farmers’ Market.
“We hope those that sign up to be a part of the Farmers’ Market will make the commitment to be there when it is open,” said Arlana Shields, city community development director. “People in the community count on the farmers for their fresh, seasonal produce.”
Additionally, the Ole City Market will be available to rent for events when the Farmers’ Market is not open. Information on rental use and guidelines and a rental agreement are available at city hall. Fees for rent and use of electricity must be paid in order for the agreement to be fulfilled.
Also, foods that must remain at a certain temperature before they can be consumed are not permitted to be sold as a part of the rental agreement. The Ole City Market must be cleaned after the event, and the keys must be returned to city hall the next business day following the event.
