Faded Glory

Kenneth Rhodes, a member of Boy Scout Troop 242 in Patterson, disposes of a flag during a flag retirement ceremony at the W.L. Bernauer Jr. American Legion Post 242 Hall in Patterson. The flag was one of hundreds that had become worn, torn, faded or badly soiled and needed to be retired after it had served its time. Watching Rhodes is Kenneth Lodrigue, a colorbearer with the American Legion Post 242. The ceremony concluded a day of activities for both the American Legion and the Scout troop, which the Legion sponsors. The American Legion had an open house for both the Legion and the Scouts to recruit new members.
