Evidence recovered in rape
MORGAN CITY, La. — Police recovered fingerprints and DNA during the investigation of the aggravated rape of a 66-year-old Morgan City woman in her home early Monday morning.
Morgan City Assistant Chief Glen Blanco said his department received a call at 3:41 a.m. from the 900 block of Cottonwood Street. The victim told officers she was sleeping in her bedroom when she was awakened by an unknown white male standing over her with a knife. He forced her to perform sexual acts, but did not otherwise harm her.
Police determined the man entered the residence through a sliding glass patio door in the rear of the residence, after prying open the lock. He also exited the residence through the rear door.
Investigators do not believe the suspect knew the victim and are investigating this as a stranger rape, Blanco said.
The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 to 175 pounds. He was wearing a black ski mask with red stitching around the eye holes and what appeared to be dark pants or possibly blue jeans.
Blanco said anyone who might have seen a man in the vicinity around this time should call the MCPD. Contact detectives with information regarding the crime at 985-380-4605.
