Eric Samuel Burleigh Sr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at the Church of the Assumption at 11 a.m. for Eric Samuel Burleigh Sr., 83, a native of Lewisburg and a resident of Franklin for the past 49 years. Burleigh died Monday at the Franklin Healthcare Center.

He was born Oct. 26, 1929.

Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. The Rev. Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. After 33 years at National Supermarket, he retired produce manager. He then went on to work at Jimmy’s Produce.

Survivors include three children, Eric Burleigh Jr. of Slidell, David “Bird” Burleigh of Centerville and Janet Burleigh of Patterson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eve Anna Burleigh Thibodeaux of Palmetto and Helen Landry Olivier of Opelousas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother, two sisters and his parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at the Church of the Assumption from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m., with the rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.
