A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Church of the Assumption at 11 a.m., for Mr. Eric Samuel Burleigh Sr., 83, a native of Lewisburg and a resident of Franklin for the past 49 years, who passed away Monday morning, July 15, 2013, at the Franklin Healthcare Center. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

Mr. Eric was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed fishing, gardening, walking, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He gave 33 years of dedicated service, working at National Supermarket, where at the time of his retirement he worked as produce manager. He then went on to work at Jimmy’s Produce. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include three children, Eric Burleigh Jr. and his wife, Laurie, of Slidell; David “Bird” Burleigh and his wife, Monica, of Centerville; and Janet Burleigh and her fiancé Carl Plessala, of Patterson; seven grandchildren, Ryan Burleigh, Jennifer Serra Landry and her husband, John, Sarah Faust, Jodie Landry and her husband, D.J., Caleb Weatherford and his wife, Amy, Dugan Burleigh, and Hollie Picou; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Rayne, and Camden Faust; and two sisters, Eve Anna Burleigh Thibodeaux of Palmetto and Helen Landry Olivier of Opelousas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Joyce Seaux Burleigh; one brother, Irby “Tee-Tee” Burleigh; two sisters, Ruby B. Landry and Aubrey B. Prejean; and his parents, Joseph Lawrence Burleigh and Beatrice Lavergne Burleigh.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at the Church of the Assumption from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m., with the rosary being prayed at 10 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Burleigh Jr., David Burleigh, Carl Plessala, Ryan Burleigh, Caleb Weatherford, and Hunter Faust.
