Eagles, Lady Eagles down Hanson Memorial; both remain unbeaten in district play

St. Mary Parish’s two Catholic schools faced off on Tuesday in Franklin with Central Catholic beating Hanson Memorial in both varsity games.
The boys won, 87-48, with four players scoring in double figures. Tyler Hoffpauir led the Eagles with 18 points; Lloyd Grogan had 17 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and three blocks; Nick Case had 13 points, four assists, three rebounds and was a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc; and Dontrell Brown added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Lamar Grogan made his presence known in the paint with 10 rebounds and five points along with four steals and two blocks. The Eagles are now 17-3 overall and 3-0 in district. They are currently No. 1 in the Class 1A Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll.
The Lady Eagles also won, 80-45, with Meo Knight leading the team with 23 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals, six assists and four blocks; Randi Brown had a triple-double with 19 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds and Geralyn Garrett had 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals. The Lady Eagles are now 18-2 overall and 2-0 in district.
Central Catholic will host District 8-1A rival Vermilion Catholic on Friday at the Matchbox.
