Duval-Giroir united in marriage at Holy Cross

Sarah Michelle Duval and Randy James Giroir Jr. exchanged wedding vows July 22 during a 7 p.m. candlelight ceremony at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City. The Rev. Danny Poche officiated.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth J. Duval of Morgan City. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Giroir Sr. of Berwick.

The church was decorated with columns draped with bronze mesh and lights, and adorned with floral badges. Matching baskets of peonies, roses, hydrangeas and calla lilies flanked the altar. Glass cylinders with pillar candles and rose petals lined the center aisle.

Music for the ceremony was by organist Lee LeBlanc and vocalist Margaret Kreider.

Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline, ruched bodice and hand-beaded appliques. The skirt of asymmetrically-draped Gaza flowed into a chapel train. Completing her ensemble was a fingertip veil edged with Swarovski crystals.

She carried a bouquet of ivory peonies, roses, hydrangeas and calla lilies wrapped in gold ribbon and crystals. Tucked inside the bouquet was a handkerchief that belonged to the late Alta Landry, her great-grandmother.

Laura Duval Gros served as her sister’s matron of honor. She wore a one-shouldered dress in knee length featuring tri-toned metallic hues. Her bouquet was of ivory peonies, roses, hydrangeas and calla lilies hand-tied with antique gold ribbon.

Bridesmaids, dressed identically to the matron of honor, were Kathrine Butler, Cherish Kraemer, Kaci Giroir and Connie Giroir, sister of the groom.

Emma Bonin was flower girl.

Ring bearer was Collin Duval, son of the bride.

Lockwood Bonin served as best man. Groomsmen were Cody Gros, Jacob Pennison, Chris Veillion and Thomas Giroir, brother of the groom.

Ushers were Devin Duval, cousin of the bride and B.J. Eisenman, cousin of the groom.

A reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City. Tables were decorated with tall arrangements of peonies, roses, hydrangeas and calla lilies accented with metallic mesh set atop mirrors surrounded by hand-beaded votive candles.

The bride’s cake was a six-tiered confection covered in ivory fondant. The top two tiers were spheres separated by a bow accented with a brooch and topped with ivory gum-paste flowers.

The groom’s cake was a chocolate confection depicting a swamp scene complete with a Cajun camp.

Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Café JoJo’s in Morgan City.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Morgan City. She received a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. She is employed by the St. Mary Parish School Board.

The groom is a 2006 graduate of Berwick High School. He received an associate’s degree in Safety Technology.

They honeymooned in Alaska while cruising the inside passage. They reside in Bayou Vista.
