Derailment in Baldwin
Railroad crossings in Baldwin were blocked this morning after a single flatbed rail car left the tracks just north of Martin Luther King Street. The rail car was empty and there were no injuries or hazmat conditions, according Police Chief Gerald Minor. The car was the last in a line of others traveling south toward Franklin. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. By 9:15 a.m. the MLK crossing had been cleared. Minor did not know when the crossings at Lockley, Haven and Collins streets would be open. The incident is being investigated by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
