Deputies arrest man on heroin charge from August bust

A Siracusaville man was arrested on possession of $45,000 worth of heroin, among numerous other drug warrants.

Ronald Winslow Jr., 22, of Ciro Street in Siracusaville was arrested Monday at 3:51 p.m. on warrants for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a Drug Free Zone, possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substance, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and resisting an officer by flight.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said Narcotics Division agents patrolling the Siracusaville area observed Winslow, who was wanted on active warrants. He fled from agents but was quickly apprehended, Hebert said.

The warrants stem from an investigation Aug. 11 when agents were patrolling the Siracusaville area. At that time they saw a vehicle that failed to signal a turn. When agents attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, crashing into a tree stump on Ciro Street, the sheriff said.

During the course of the investigation, agents located heroin with a street value of about $45,000 and firearms in the vehicle, he said. Crack cocaine also was located near the vehicle, he said. Winslow, who was a passenger in the vehicle, fled from agents, according to Hebert.

Winslow remained jailed this morning with no bail set.

Two other suspects were arrested in the incident, according to the sheriff.

Barry Lee Jones, 25, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:18 p.m. Aug. 11 on Ciro St. in Siracusaville for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a Drug Free Zone.

Brennan Norton Skinner Sr., 20, of Grace Street in Siracusaville was arrested at the same time for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violation of controlled dangerous substance law in a Drug Free Zone, resisting an officer by flight and warrants for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery, failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana, simple battery and simple criminal damage to property. He also was wanted on warrants from the Morgan City Police Department for probation violation and simple battery domestic violence.
