Cypress Sawmill Festival is under way
PATTERSON, La. — The 23rd annual Cypress Sawmill Festival begins at Kemper Williams Park and Campground at 1 p.m. today with the seventh annual Cypress Sawmill Golf Tournament at the Atchafalaya at Idlewild Golf Course.
The Country Showdown, hosted by KQKI radio station and the festival, will begin at 6 p.m. today.
Antique engines and machinery will be on display from 5 p.m. today until 10 a.m. Sunday.
The All American Professional Lumberjack Show will be held Saturday and Sunday. Shows from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The festival will feature several bands throughout the weekend including Flash Back Band, Gene Romero’s Boogie N’ Brass, Gregg Martinez & The Delta Kings, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, South 70 Band, 90 Degrees West, Members Only Band and Cypress Band featuring Warren Storm and Willie Tee.
The Sawmill Festival Softball Tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Games will be played at three ball parks at Kemper Williams Park. The tournament will continue at 8 a.m. Sunday.
The bass tournament weigh in will be at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Visitors to the festival can view the Cypress Sawmill Display at the Louisiana State Museum in Patterson.
The festival will host the 21st Annual Patterson Cypress Sawmill Festival Car Show with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday.
The Cypress Sawmill 2013 pageant winners will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Food and drink booths and arts and crafts booths will be open throughout the weekend.
