Crouch warns Morgan City residents about alligators

MORGAN CITY, La. -- Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said police have been having a problem with alligators getting into people’s yards in the Wyandotte Subdivision and Railroad Avenue area.

Crouch said if residents see alligators in their yards to call the police immediately, and police will take care of the situation.

Do not try to feed or harass the alligators, Crouch added.

An incident occurred Thursday where a boy startled an alligator and “it could have been an ugly situation,” Crouch said.

Crouch said he thinks the high water from the rain the area has gotten may cause the alligators “to come out of the woodwork.”
