Council expected to OK replacement transformer
MORGAN CITY, La. — A recommendation on bids for a new electrical transformer to replace the transformer destroyed in the June 26 fire that left the city without electricity for a day will be made at the regular public council meeting of the City of Morgan City at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the City Court Building on La. 182 East.
“This transformer will be paid for out of the insurance proceeds,” Mayor Tim Matte said.
“The City Council has already authorized us to take this action. We will seek their full authorization on Tuesday night to execute a purchase order for the transformer.”
The council is also expected to take action on a resolution of support showing the city’s intention to participate in the Louisiana Energy & Power Authority’s project for a new power plant.
“The next step will be the development of the power sales agreements and operating agreements so that the cities can make the financial committee and bonds can be issued.
“That will come in the spring of 2013,” Matte said.
