Council on Aging awards
Several individuals were recognized with awards for their contributions to St. Mary Council on Aging during its 40th annual membership meeting last Friday in Franklin. Executive Director Beverly Domengeaux presented awards to Joyce Louis, (top left) a homemaker aide in Franklin for Employee of the Year; Lisa Daigle, (top right) manager of the Morgan City Council on Aging site, for Top Performer; and Della Bellard, (bottom left) a third grade teacher at J.A. Hernandez Elementary, for organizing successful food drives year after year to provide baskets during the holidays. Current and past board members also were recognized for their contributions as were elected officials who help obtain agency funding from the state and local levels. Accepting the latter awards were Reps. Sam Jones (D-Franklin) and Joe Harrison (R-Gray); St. Mary Councilman Glen Hidalgo of Bayou Vista; and Town of Berwick Mayor Pro-tem Duval Arthur. Others receiving awards included Community Action Agency Executive Director Almetra Franklin for being a partner in various programs.
