Teen charged with attack during pool game
A 17-year-old male was arrested Wednesday for second degree battery after he hit a man in the face numerous times after the man bumped into him during a pool game, Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack said in a news release.
Trey M. Hebert, 17, of the 200 block of South Bay Road in Pierre Part, was arrested Wednesday for second degree battery.
Early Wednesday morning Teche Regional Medical Center contacted the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding a patient in the emergency room with a large laceration and an eye swollen shut stating that he had been involved in an altercation at T-Herm’s Lakeview Inn located on South Bay Road in Pierre Part, Waguespack said.
He was then transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where it was determined that he had a fractured eye socket, fractured nose, potentially fractured facial bones, and needed about four stitches above his right eye. The victim, a 39-year-old Pierre Part man, will need surgery for the injuries sustained during the altercation, Waguespack said.
A detective interviewed several witnesses to the incident who gave similar accounts as to that given by the victim, Waguespack said.
All people interviewed identified Hebert from a photo line-up as the person responsible for the battery. Investigators learned that the victim had bumped into Hebert while he was playing pool and making his final, 8-ball shot. A verbal altercation began, and then Hebert struck the victim numerous times in the facial area, Waguespack said.
Hebert’s bail has not been set yet. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information concerning this case should contact the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division at 985-526-1627 or Communications Division at 985-369-2912.
