Man charged with enticing persons into prostitution

A 21-year-old Patterson man was arrested during an armed robbery investigation in Patterson on three counts of enticing persons into prostitution and computer aided solicitation of a minor after sheriff’s deputies saw text messages he sent, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jose Lisandro Barajas-Birrueta, 21, of the 100 block of Foxglove Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:16 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, for three counts of enticing persons into prostitution, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, illegal use of a weapon, and computer aided solicitation of a minor.
Deputies responded to a complaint of an armed robbery and found Barajas-Birrueta, who showed deputies text messages discussing the exchange of money for sexual acts, Hebert said.
Deputies also learned that he and another male discharged a firearm on La. 182 in the Patterson area and that Barajas-Birrueta gave a 16-year-old female a pack of cigarettes, Hebert said. Barajas-Birrueta was jailed with no bail set. The investigation is ongoing.
