Erath man arrested for theft from Patterson business

An Erath man was arrested Wednesday in connection with theft from a Patterson business.
Christopher J. Dyson, 30, of Tupelo Circle in Erath, was arrested at 12:08 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for simple burglary (felony) and on a warrant for theft (felony).
Dyson was transported from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. 
Hebert said the warrants stem from an investigation into the mid-September theft of several hundred gallons of fuel and a vehicle burglary occurring at a business in the Patterson area. Dyson remained jailed this morning with no bail set. The crime remains under investigation, Hebert said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in or pertaining to the eastern end of the parish:
—Kenneth Ray Allen Jr., 46, of the 100 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday for cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives conducted an investigation at Allen’s home where they located marijuana plants being grown in a closet and items of drug paraphernalia. Allen remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
—Cole Z. Fruge, 22, of the 1300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:31 p.m. Wednesday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Store personnel said Fruge was seen taking a video game and video cable from the packaging and concealing them before attempting to leave the store. Fruge was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 10.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Teligia Busby, 53, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday for appearing in public intoxicated and simple criminal damage to property. Officers were sent to a local motel to quell a disturbance in which Busby was arguing with another female. Upon speaking to her, officers observed that her speech was slurred, and she had an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon her person, Crouch said. While in the holding cell due to her intoxicated state, officers observed that Busby had damaged a piece of jail property at which time she was additionally charged, he said.
—Jason Cavalier, 38, of Hilda Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for violation of a protective order. Cavalier turned himself in at the Morgan City Police Department. He posted $1,000 bail and was released.
—Rochelle Thomas, 35, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday for reckless operation, resisting an officer by flight, driving under suspension, possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and a warrant for failure to appear in court for possession of cocaine in St. Landry Parish.
Officers were sent to Filmore Street regarding a disturbance. Officers saw a green truck leaving the scene in a reckless manner. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on La. 182, but the vehicle did not stop until reaching a residence on Chennault Street. Thomas was found to be operating the motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and upon searching the vehicle, officers found an open alcoholic beverage, Crouch said. Thomas remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
