A 30-year-old Virginia man was jailed Sunday morning after being accused of striking someone in the face during an argument at a Morgan City hotel, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Damen E. Dobson, 30, of Fort Smith, Virginia, was arrested at 2:29 a.m. Sunday for simple battery.
Officers responded to a disturbance at a Justa Street hotel and learned of a physical altercation between two people. In the investigation, Dobson was accused of having struck another person in the face which led to the disturbance, Banks said. Dobson was jailed.
Banks reported the following arrests:
—Kelvin L. Walker, 47, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. today for domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a Railroad Avenue residence. Officers learned that Walker was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman at the residence.
During the altercation, Walker was accused of committing a battery on the woman, which caused minor injuries, Banks said. Walker was jailed.
—Rene A. Landry, 55, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace by using profane language.
Officers responded to a call of a disturbance at a Brashear Avenue residence. Officers learned that Landry had become involved in a verbal altercation with a neighbor and during the disturbance, began to use loud profane language near children in the area.
Officers located Landry, who continued to yell loud profane language even after being advised by officers to cease, Banks said. He was jailed and released on cash bail.
—Bryant W. Francois, 32, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Saturday for improper lighting, on a warrant for two headlights required, a warrant for no driver’s license, a warrant for contempt of court.
A patrolling officer detained a vehicle for improper lighting in the area of Sixth and Greenwood streets and came into contact with the driver, Francois, who was found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward Court. He was jailed.
—Daniel J. Aucoin Jr., 28, of Roselawn Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. Sunday for hit and run, careless operation, and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Officers responded to a hit and run accident in the area of Tupelo Street. Officers were provided a description of a vehicle, which had struck a parked vehicle and then fled from the scene, Banks said. Officers searched and were able to locate a suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Aucoin.
Aucoin admitted he was involved in the crash, the chief said. He was released after posting cash bail.
—Tyrone P. Bradford, 23, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:51 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers responded to a disturbance at a Bowman Street residence and arrived to locate Bradford, who appeared intoxicated. According to witnesses, Bradford became involved in a dispute with another person. As officers spoke to Bradford, he became belligerent, using loud profane language, causing a disturbance. Bradford was jailed.
—J.C. Ford Jr., 27, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. today for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license third offense, and improper lighting.
An officer observed a vehicle with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle at Everett Street and La. 182 to investigate. The driver, Ford, was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 104 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Katy L. Ghirardi, 21, of the 200 block of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Friday on a warrant for theft of goods. A deputy responding to a separate complaint made contact with Ghirardi and learned of the active warrant for her arrest.
The warrant stems from an investigation into a report of theft from a store in Bayou Vista. Ghirardi was jailed She was later released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 14.
—Justin Bourgeois, 41, of the 200 block of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. A deputy made contact with Bourgeois on Cane Road in Centerville and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. Bourgeois was jailed and released on $3,000 bail.
—Courtney Saujon, 31, of the 500 block of Signe Road in Patterson, was arrested at 11:27 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of improper turning and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy monitoring traffic at the intersection of Southeast Boulevard and Delmar Road in Bayou Vista conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to stop at a stop sign. While speaking to the driver of the vehicle, identified as Saujon, the deputy learned that she held an active warrant for arrest. Saujon was released on $319.50 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Annette Theriot, 48, of Neptune Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:51 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for possession of Schedule IV drugs and open container. Theriot was transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
