Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Dylon Chellette, 20, of Belanger Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Monday for hit and run driving, reckless operation of a movable and no driver’s license.
—Alexis R. Crews, 19, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Monday for resisting an officer.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Brashear Avenue in regard to a vehicle crash. Officers were advised that an off duty Morgan City officer had witnessed the crash and that a vehicle involved had left the scene and was being followed by the off-duty officer.
The vehicle traveled to a residence on Cypress Street and the vehicle’s occupants were observed running into a residence. Officers went to the residence and spoke with the woman inside, Crews, who provided officers with false statements in an apparent attempt to hide the persons involved, Banks said. Officers discovered that two people ran from the rear of the residence.
Crews and Chellette were located after returning to the scene. Chellette, who was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and Crews were jailed.
—Miles P. Laughlin, 48, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:13 a.m. today on a warrant for simple battery involving a juvenile.
An officer located Laughlin near the corner of Belanger Street and Federal Avenue regarding warrants in which was alleged on Feb. 24 in which Laughlin was accused of striking a juvenile during an altercation, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Amy Ponce-Mata, 36, of Amelia, was arrested at 1:32 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to return leased merchandise, a warrant for driving under revocation and a warrant for careless operation.
Ponce-Mata came to the Morgan City Police Department for other services and it was discovered that she was a wanted person on outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department. She was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Luis E. Corrales-Miranda, 29, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:27 a.m. today for no driver’s license, failure to yield with an accident.
Officers responded to a vehicle crash near the intersection of Grizzaffi Street and La. 182. A driver involved in the accident was identified as Corrales-Miranda who was found to be operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. Officers discovered that Corrales-Miranda failed to yield to traffic resulting in the accident. He was jailed.
—Jared J. Helms, 27, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:43 a.m. today for theft value $8.83.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 restaurant in regard to a person refusing to pay for food. The officers were advised that a male ordered a meal, consumed the meal and then left the premises refusing to pay for the meal, Banks said. Restaurant staff attempted to stop Helms, but he refused, driving away in a vehicle. The staff provided officers with a description of the vehicle.
Helms was located at a Bayou Vista address by St. Mary Sheriff’s deputies. He was returned to the scene, identified and placed under arrest for the theft. He was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Angela Daigle, 47, of the 100 block of Arlington Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:49 a.m. Monday on two warrants for issuing worthless checks and on two warrants from Iberia Parish for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Daigle at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrants. Daigle was jailed with no bail set.
—Amy E. Grow, 32, of the 200 block of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy conducting a traffic stop on La. 182 and the frontage road in Amelia made contact with Grow and learned of the warrants for her arrest. Grow was jailed and released on $900 bail.
—Dustin J. Ferguson, 21, of the 1000 block of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:59 p.m. Monday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy located Ferguson at his residence on the warrant. Ferguson was jailed with bail set at $200,000.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Laverne Paul Verdun, 49, of the 200 block of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:34 p.m. Monday for criminal mischief. Verdun was jailed on $314 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
