Four people were jailed on drug and firearm charges after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives stopped a vehicle in Bayou Vista Thursday evening, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jordan Watson, 25, of the 1600 block of Cherry Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting an officer, possession of Schedule III Suboxone, on two warrants for simple battery, a warrant for domestic abuse battery and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful use of an ID to gain access to a gaming establishment.
—Dashawn Moore, 18, of the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
—David Picou Jr., 18, of the 1000 block of Delmar Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Thursday for no driver’s license, possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
—Tyrin Watts, 19, of the 500 block of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:29 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
Narcotics detectives patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a pickup truck fail to come to a complete stop at the intersection of Field Street and Saturn Road. Detectives conducted a traffic stop. As detectives approached the vehicle, one of the passengers exited the vehicle and fled, Hebert said.
Detectives detained the driver identified as Picou and two passengers identified as Moore and Watts. Detectives located marijuana and a handgun inside the truck, Hebert said. Moore, Watts and Picou were jailed with no bail set.
Detectives identified the fourth person who ran from the truck as Watson. Watson was located at a residence on Jupiter Street, Hebert said. He was found to be in possession of Suboxone strips. Watson was jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Uston Rock, 26, of the 200 block of Elaine Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 6:09 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I marijuana second offense, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone and introduction of contraband into a penal facility.
Narcotics detectives were patrolling the Bayou Vista area when they observed a pickup truck fail to stop at the posted stop sign at Southeast Boulevard and Canal Road. Detectives made contact with a passenger, identified as Rock. After receiving consent to search his person, detectives located a bag of marijuana on Rock, Hebert said.
A check of Rock’s criminal history showed a marijuana conviction in 2008. Rock was jailed. During the booking process, Rock was also found to be in possession of a burnt marijuana cigarette commonly referred to as a “roach,” Hebert said. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—David Lewis, 21, of Oberlin, was arrested at 6:08 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to Teche Regional Medical Center for an unruly patient. Officers were advised that Lewis had been transported in to the emergency room for treatment. Emergency room personnel advised officers that Lewis was refusing to cooperate with them to get any treatment. Officers went with personnel to speak to Mr. Lewis and he refused to supply them with any information that could help with his treatment.
Emergency room personnel asked that Lewis be escorted from the facility. Upon officers coming into contact with Lewis they detected that he was under the influence of some type of substance. Lewis was jailed.
—James Cox, 29, of Oregon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:52 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to yield with an accident and driving under suspension.
While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle being driven by Cox. The officer knew of an active warrant for his arrest. Cox was jailed and released on $563 cash bail.
—Shade Suire, 21, of Morgan City, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for a probation violation.
An officer observed Suire traveling in a vehicle. Officers knew of an active warrant for Suire’s arrest. The vehicle was stopped and the warrant was confirmed. Suire was jailed with no bail set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
