A 26-year-old Baton Rouge man was arrested Tuesday when he fled on foot from St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputies after the man threatened another person at a bar in Amelia, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Mark E. Finley, 26, of the 2200 block of College Drive in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated, resisting an officer by flight, and simple assault. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a bar in Amelia. The deputy made contact with Finley.
During the investigation, Finley fled from the deputy on foot, but was intercepted by other deputies en route responding to the complaint, Hebert said. According to statements taken from witnesses at the bar, Finley verbally threatened a male and made aggressive movements towards him, Hebert said. Finley was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 30 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Nhirobi Dewey, 17, of the 900 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:28 p.m. Monday for simple battery. A school resource officer at St. Mary Parish Alternative School observed Dewey strike another student, Hebert said. Dewey was jailed and released on recognizance bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Michael Pociecha, 46, of Mauldin, S.C., was arrested at 7:49 a.m. Monday for careless operation.
Pociecha was arrested after officers responded to a vehicle crash on La. 182 and Halsey Street. Pociecha was the driver of a vehicle which collided with another vehicle while being driven in a careless manner. Pociecha was arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
—Kimberly R. Harris, 41, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:08 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods value $67.85 and a warrant for failure to appear for theft by shoplifting.
Harris was detained by store employees of a Brashear Avenue grocery store after she was observed concealing food items in a bag. She was also found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear for theft by shoplifting. She was jailed.
—Joaqusha N. Mingo, 28, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday for possession of drug paraphernalia second offense.
Mingo was detained by officers in the area of La. 182 and was found to possess a pipe commonly used with illegal narcotics, Crouch said. She was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Jordan R. Gant, 24, of the 200 block of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. today for theft by shoplifting. Gant was held on $344 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
