A 38-year-old Bayou Vista man was arrested Monday after the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained video surveillance footage of him using a stolen access card at two different businesses, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Shamus Dardeau, 38, of the 500 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:59 a.m. Monday on a warrant for theft of assets of an aged or disabled person, identity theft, and unauthorized use of an access card.
A deputy located Dardeau at his residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into the theft of a bank card. The deputy assigned to the case obtained video surveillance footage of Dardeau using the stolen card at two businesses in St. Mary Parish. Dardeau was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 50 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Lakreshia S. Caine, 22, of the 13900 block of West Main Street in Larose, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Monday for theft of goods, flight from an officer, obstruction of justice, and remaining where forbidden.
—Andrea N. Dabney, 34, of the 100 block of Violet Street in Thibodaux, was arrested at 5:15 p.m. Monday for theft of goods and remaining where forbidden.
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a complaint of shoplifting. The deputy learned from store personnel that Caine and Dabney were seen concealing items in purses and on their persons. Both admitted to the deputy that they had no intention of paying for the items, Hebert said. The deputy also learned that Caine and Dabney had been banned from the store for previous theft incidents. Both were jailed. No bail is set for Caine. Dabney’s bail is set at $1,500.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Chad Ferguson, 19, of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Monday for distribution of a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance-Suboxone and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
Ferguson was detained at the Morgan City Jail after it was discovered that he attempted to introduce a suspicious substance into the jail facility. Ferguson, who was not housed in the facility attempted to smuggle the substance to the inmate. The substance was discovered to be Suboxone. Ferguson was arrested and incarcerated into the Morgan City Jail where he remains. Police will continue to investigate and arrest any person responsible for the introduction of contraband into the facility, Crouch said.
—Deanna N. Hatcher, 29, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:43 p.m. Monday for simple criminal damage to property.
Hatcher was arrested by officers after they responded to a complaint of a domestic disturbance at a Mallard Street residence. During the altercation, Hatcher was alleged to have damaged a door inside the residence using a hammer. She was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Five male juveniles were arrested at 5:13 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana. Three of them were 15 years old, one was 14, and one was 16. They were released to their parents.
