St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Billy R. Bentley, 50, of the 2700 block of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:51 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for felony forgery and monetary instrument abuse. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Berwick Police who advised that Bentley had been detained on the warrants. The warrant stems from an investigation into a missing check that was forged and cashed on a closed bank account at a business in Amelia, Hebert said. Bentley was jailed. No bail is set.
—Barbara L. Fraley, 48, of the 1200 block of Delmar Avenue in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:51 p.m. Thursday for theft at a store in Bayou Vista. Fraley was released on a summons to appear in court on Jan. 31.
—Breanne Bogan, 17, of the 300 block of Charlotte Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 7:53 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods.
—Dewayna Jones, 17, of the 1500 block of Plum Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:53 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods.
—Lakesha Renee Griffin, 18, of the 500 block of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:53 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods.
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Bogan, Jones, and Griffin were seen taking food items, consuming them, and leaving the packaging on the shelves. All three were released on summonses to appear in court on Jan. 31.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:
—Joseph Lloyd Williams, 30, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:07 p.m. Thursday for failure to use turn signal and driving under suspension. Williams was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
