Teen accused of making threats, kicking sheriff’s unit

A 16-year-old Patterson boy was accused of making threats against three people and then kicked a police unit, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—A male, 16, of Patterson, was arrested at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday for three counts of simple assault, resisting an officer, disturbing the peace and criminal damage to property.
A deputy responded to a disturbance in progress in the Patterson area. The deputy observed the juvenile standing in the roadway yelling, Hebert said.
The juvenile refused the deputy’s requests to calm down and was subsequently detained, the sheriff said. The deputy received statements indicating that the juvenile made threats against three other people. While being detained in the rear of the police unit, the juvenile kicked the door causing damage to the unit, Hebert said. The juvenile was transported to a jail facility for housing.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—John Austin III, of the 200 block of Clausen Road South in Verdunville, was arrested at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday for violation of a protective order. A deputy patrolling the Verdunville area responded to the complaint. The deputy learned that Austin violated a protective order by entering the property of the person listed in the court order. Austin was jailed and released on $5,000 bail.
—Tommy Holt, 30, of the 15400 block of Bammel Fields Court in Houston, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant from Taylor County, Texas, for theft. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area received information that Holt was wanted on the warrant and located him at a business on Lake Palourde Road. Holt was jailed with no bail set.
—Kevin Verret Jr., 34, of the 1200 block of Clement Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:31 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for parole violation. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed Verret travelling in a vehicle on Saturn Road. The deputy knew that Verret was wanted on the warrant and stopped the vehicle. Verret was jailed with no bail set.
—Benjamin Landry, 31, of the 100 block of Mary Ann Street in Pierre Part, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant from Assumption Parish for criminal damage to property and theft. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area was dispatched to Bollinger Lane in reference to a warrant from Assumption Parish. Landry was jailed with no bail set.
—Devin W. Vining, 20, of the 100 block of Griffin Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:21 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Vining was transported from Assumption Parish to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant. Bail is set at $100,000.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Chyral C. Whitehead, 34, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lighting, on a St. Mary Parish warrant for a stop sign violation and no driver’s license.
Officers received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle near the area of Allison Street in Morgan City. Officers located a vehicle fitting the description and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver of the vehicle, Whitehead, was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. Whitehead was jailed.
—Paige N. Mabe, 24, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to pay fine for possession of drug paraphernalia. Mabe, who was already in jail, was re-booked.
—David J. Bergeron, 35, of Tiffany Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday for appearing intoxicated in public.
Officers received a complaint of an intoxicated person near Lake End Park on La. 70. Officers located Bergeron walking on La. 70 and was found in an intoxicated condition. He was jailed.
—Dallas P. Marcantel, 19, of Morgan City, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana and two headlights required.
Officers observed a vehicle in the area of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City being driven without lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver was identified as Marcantel. Officers located a small amount of suspected marijuana within the vehicle. Marcantel was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Nicholas A. Breaux, 34, of Morgan City, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. today for criminal trespass and disturbing the peace.
Officers received a complaint of a subject sleeping on the steps of a residence located in the 2600 block of Sixth Street and arrived to investigate. Breaux was located and identified. Breaux became belligerent towards officers when asked to leave. Breaux was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
