A 24-year-old Thibodaux man was jailed for carrying a 9mm handgun in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance after the vehicle he was driving nearly struck a police unit Sunday on Youngs Road in Morgan City, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Brent M. Craver, 24, of Cortez Street in Thibodaux, was arrested at 5:36 p.m. Sunday for improper lane usage, violation of registration provisions, expired vehicle registration, no registration certificate, no liability insurance, possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
An officer stopped a vehicle on Youngs Road in Morgan City after the vehicle crossed the center line almost striking the police unit. The officer identified the driver as Craver. Craver could not provide liability insurance on his vehicle as well as any motor vehicle registration. The officer observed that the license plate had been altered in a way to misidentify the expiration of the license plate. Craver was found to possess cellophane bags which contained suspected marijuana along with other items of paraphernalia inside his vehicle, Banks said. Craver also was found to possess a 9mm handgun, which was in the presence of the illegal narcotics, he said. Craver was jailed.

—Vincent Thomas Jr., 20, of Rosemary Street in Franklin, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Friday for possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids, on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for no driver’s license, a warrant for failure to pay a fine for possession of drug paraphernalia, a warrant for failure to pay a fine for resisting an officer and a warrant for failure to pay a fine for possession of stolen property.
—Melvin East, 53, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:33 a.m. Friday on a warrant for two counts theft of goods less than $100. East, who was incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail facility, was identified by detectives as the person who had stolen goods from the same pharmacy May 21 and May 23. Detectives were able to identify East through the use of video surveillance evidence and observed him steal bottles of alcohol in those incidents, Banks said. East was jailed.
—Jaquisha N. Mingo, 28, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:43 a.m. Saturday for possession of drug paraphernalia seventh offense.
A patrolling officer observed a female walking on La. 182 and stopped to investigate. The female, identified as Mingo made several attempts to reach into her pocket during the encounter raising the officers safety concerns.
During a weapons frisk, Mingo was found to possess a glass pipe that contained suspected marijuana, Banks said. Mingo was jailed.
—Rodric D. Brown, 19, of Pecan Street in Franklin, was arrested at 2:49 a.m. today for possession of marijuana fourth offense, no driver’s license, no seat belt, no insurance, no vehicle registration and resisting an officer.
—Tradasha L. Brooks, 18, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:59 a.m. today on a warrant from the Patterson Police Department for possession of marijuana and no seat belt.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven on La. 182 by people not utilizing their passenger restraints. The officer stopped to investigate. The driver, Brown, was found to be operating a vehicle with no driver’s license, no vehicle registration nor motor vehicle insurance. Brown who appeared extremely nervous was found to possess a cellophane bag that contained suspected marijuana, Banks said. Brown was placed under arrest and handcuffed. As the officer was escorting Brown to the police unit, he attempted to break away and escape, Banks said. The officer was able to apprehend Brown, restrain him and place him in the rear of the police unit.
The passenger in the vehicle, who was also not wearing a passenger restraint, was identified as Brooks who was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the Patterson Police Department. Both Brown and Brooks were jailed.
—Tyler J. Davidson, 21, of Pharr Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:01 p.m. Saturday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 convenience store in regards to a subject passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle. Officers arrived and located Davidson inside his vehicle. A narcotics K-9 unit responded to the scene, conducted a sweep of the exterior of the vehicle and indicated the presence of the odor of illegal narcotics. Officers located suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia in the center console of the vehicle Bank said. Davidson was jailed.
—Donnie Smith, 45, of Maine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:31 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for a probation fee, a warrant for failure to pay a fine for driving while intoxicated, a warrant for failure to pay a fine for hit and run driving and a warrant for failure to pay a fine for no driver’s license.
Officers investigating a disturbance at a Freret Street address came into contact with Smith who was found to be wanted on several outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department. Smith was jailed.
—Steven Gray, 31, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:37 a.m. Saturday on a warrant from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Department for failure to appear as a sex offender.
Officers responding to a complaint of a disturbance on La. 182 came into contact with Gray who was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Gray was jailed.
—Angela Weber, 46, of Saturn Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:32 a.m. Sunday for appearing intoxicated in public at an La. 182 lounge.
—William B. Harrison, 60, of Wise Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:47 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for stop sign violation and a warrant for failure to appear for contempt of court. Harrison, who had been located by Berwick Police, was taken to the Morgan City Jail.
—Daniel Gadberry, 34, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:39 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for obstructing driver’s view, a warrant for no/expired driver’s license and a warrant for no insurance.
Officers were dispatched a Federal Avenue residence regarding a wanted person. Gadberry was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to the following arrests in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Cole Z. Fruge, 22, of the 1300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:37 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace fighting. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Saturn Road. The deputy located two people holding down a third person in the yard of the residence. The deputy learned that Fruge, the person being held down, attempted to hit a male victim while shouting and cursing at him, Hebert said. Fruge was jailed and released on $500 bail.
—Taylor Murphy, 19, of the 100 block of Greenleaf Boulevard in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:56 p.m. Saturday for theft of goods from a store on La. 182 in Amelia. The deputy released Murphy on a summons to appear in court Aug. 22.
—Kerry M. Ventress, 32, of the 200 block of Prairie Road North in Verdunville, was arrested at 5 a.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a report of a possible domestic disturbance at the Plantation Inn in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy located a female subject outside one of the motel rooms. The deputy also made contact with Ventress. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Ventress pushed the female victim during an argument, Hebert said. Ventress was jailed and released on $4,500 bail.
—Page M. Trahan, 21, of the 100 block of Folks Street in Houma, was arrested at 6:13 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated in an Amelia business parking lot. Trahan was jailed and released on $500 bail.
—Ashely Ordoyne, 28, of the 200 block of Geraldine Road in Gibson, was arrested at 3:03 p.m. Sunday for theft of goods from a store on La. 182 in Amelia. The deputy released Ordoyne on a summons to appear in court Sept. 3.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Sean Michael Peters, 28, of the 200 block of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated first offense, resisting an officer by giving false information, no insurance and driving under suspension. Peters was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Claude Charlot III, 20, of the 700 block of Lynard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:52 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace. Charlot was released on $237 bail.
—Patrick Augman, 40, of the 1700 block of Rosario Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:27 a.m. today for theft of goods. Augman was jailed on $1,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
